Pivot unit for a boat's propeller shaft assembly

The Python-drive articulation unit allows the engine and propeller shaft to be installed at different angles, taking into account the optimal shaft installation angle and the engine’s placement in the engine compartment. In addition, the joint unit effectively reduces resonance in the boat’s hull.

The axial thrust is not applied directly to the marine gearbox but to the thrust bearing of the articulation unit, thereby extending the service life of the marine gearbox as well. When installing the articulation unit as part of the boat’s shaft system, it is not necessary to align the engine and propeller shafts; instead, the engine can be installed at a different angle, taking into account the boat’s installationand handling characteristics.

The complete Python-Drive joint unit package includes a constant-velocity (CV) joint, a thrust bearing unit, and an adapter flange, depending on the marine gearbox model.
