A rope cutter installed on the propeller shaft in front of the propeller is a safety device that automatically cuts through ropes, nets, fishing lines, and vegetation that become entangled around the shaft.

The cutter rotates with the shaft and cuts fishing lines, ropes, etc., before they have a chance to become caught between the propeller and the shaft. The cutter also prevents fishing line or rope from getting caught in the stern bearing, which can damage the bearing and, in the worst case, the gearbox as well.

Cable cutters are made of durable acid-resistant or stainless steel (AISI 316). The cable cutter is selected based on the diameter of the propeller shaft.
