R&D Marine drive plate PRM Delta (old model) with splines (17 teeth)The flexible R&D drive plate is mounted between the engine flywheel and the marine gearbox.
The function of the drive plate is to transmit the engine power from the flywheel to the marine gearbox. A flexible element is commonly used in traction plates to reduce the torsional vibration and noise generated by the engine. The flex element also protects the gearbox shaft from rapid changes of direction, etc.
Instead of traditional springs, R&D traction plates use a spring element made of oil-resistant polyurethane that does not rust or crack, especially at low speeds.
The drive plate is selected according to the flywheel mounting, the input shaft (pulley) of the marine gear and the torque of the engine. See the dimensions of the drive plate mounting bolts, as well as the torque and the torque in the additional information section.
Choosing the right traction plate:
1. Select the correct flex element by calculating the engine torque (Nm) using the formula below.
Torque (Nm) = Maximum engine power (hp) / Maximum engine speed (rpm) x 7123
E.g. 150 hp / 3200 rpm x 7123 = 334 Nm
2. Choose the right gear "Spline" according to the marine gear.
3. Select the appropriate diameter of the drive plate and the hole pattern of the mounting bolts for attachment to the flywheel.
