PRM260C In-Line Hydraulic Marine Gearbox for amusement and professional use.
The gearbox's double-shaft design and separate, identical friction plates for forward and reverse drive allow for full rated power in both directions. The PRM260C input shaft is splined in the same way as the Borg Warner (Velvet Drive) 71C and Paragon P23 & P25 gearboxes.
The PRM260C gearbox has its input and output shafts aligned (in-line design) and is available with gear ratios of 1.96:1 and 2.94:1.
The gearbox's hydraulic system prevents the drive shaft from moving too quickly toward the friction rims, and the gearbox responds quickly to changes in direction, which is important for good boat handling.
The gearbox can be used with both clockwise and counterclockwise rotating PTOs, making the PRM260C particularly suitable for twin-engine installations. The frame is made of high-quality cast iron. The oil pump and hydraulic control valves are mounted on the outside for easy access.
The gearbox is very robust and reliable, and it is also equipped with a mechanical locking device in case of a hydraulic failure. In such a case, the gear can be locked in the drive position, and the boat can be safely steered back to port.
